Terms & Conditions

Laura Bruce Dance Academy (LBDA) Terms and Conditions aim to present a fair and sustainable structure to all.  We aim to provide the highest quality classes for all our students.

These Terms and Conditions apply to parents/guardians enrolling their child(ren) at LBDA.  By enrolling your child, you agree to the following terms:

1. Registration and Data Protection

  • All personal information required upon registration will be recorded by LBDA and will be kept secure in accordance with GDPR.  If your child is taking an exam for any of our exam boards (ISTD, LAMDA, IPATH, ACROBATIC ARTS) these exams boards will require your child’s name, DOB and ethnicity.  Local councils may also require this information if your child is taking part in a show where a BOPA license is required.

 

2. Safety and Risk

  • LBDA is committed to the safety of all pupils who attend our lessons.
  • Participating in classes at LBDA is entirely at your own risk without any proven negligence, breach of duty of care or lack of due diligence by LBDA.  LBDA, LBDA employees/contractors cannot accept responsibility for any bodily or personal injury consisting of or arising out of any participation in any physical or athletic activity.
  • Certain classes (e.g. Acro Dance) involve inherent risks. By participating, you accept these risks.
  • From time to time, teachers may use appropriate physical contact to assist with posture, movement or corrections. Physical contact may also occur between pupils. (e.g. holding hands)

 

3. Fees

  • Fees are based on a 10-13 week term and are payable in advance either in one payment via bank transfer or spread out in 3 monthly instalments via GoCardless Direct Debit. A link to sign up for the direct debit will be set up when you join.
  • Invoices will be provided at the start of each term. A receipt of payment will be emailed.
  • All students must be registered for the class they attend.  Unregistered students will not be allowed to participate in class.
  • A full term’s notice is required for cancellation of your child’s place in class. Should your child no longer wish to attend a class please contact us. If your child withdraws part-way through a term, the full term fee remains payable.
  • No refund is given due to absenteeism, including Private lessons.
  • Fees are reviewed annually.
  • LBDA reserves the right to withdraw a student’s place if fees are consistently unpaid.

 

4. Cancellation of Classes Policy

  • LBDA will endeavour to run classes as scheduled. LBDA cannot accept responsibility for classes being cancelled outside of their control (e.g. severe weather, flooding, pandemics, criminal activity etc.)  Where possible, classes will be rescheduled or credited against future classes. Refunds will not be issued.
  • We cannot issue refunds or pause direct debits payments to cover holidays, illness on any other reason your child may miss a class.

 

5. Uniform

  • Uniform must be worn in class (please ask Miss Laura if you require a copy of the uniform list or see www.lb-da.co.uk)
  • Dance shoes must not be worn outside.  Please ensure you change into appropriate dance shoes once inside the hall.
  • No jewellery is to be worn in class.
  • Hair must be tied neatly back.

 

6. Studio Etiquette

  • Food and drink is not permitted in the studio except for bottled water.
  • Chewing gum is not allowed on the premises.
  • The studios are provided with sufficient heat, light, and ventilation for working dancers.
  • No nuts at all should be brought into class.

 

7. Classes

  • LBDA reserves the right to change the timetable at any given time but will endeavour to give as much notice as possible.
  • We do not accept responsibility for children outside of class times.
  • Parents/Guardians must ensure children are dropped off and collected promptly from classes.
  • Children who make their own way home must have written consent from their parent or guardian.
  • Please notify a member of staff should your child need to leave their class earlier.
  • Parents are not permitted in class at any time unless they are invited for a performance/presentation/watching week or show.
  • Pupils are responsible for their belongings; LBDA accepts no responsibility for any personal belongings that are stolen, damaged or go missing.
  • LBDA cannot supervise children outside of their scheduled class.
  • Children under 3 years old must have a parent/guardian present on site.

 

8. Behaviour

  • A responsible approach and good behaviour is expected from all pupils.
  • Respect for staff and other pupils’ is essential at all times.
  • If behaviour is unacceptable the principal reserves the right to dismiss a student should it become necessary.
  • Please keep noise to a minimum when arriving and leaving the venues.
  • Mobile phones are not permitted in class unless there is an emergency.
  • LBDA does not tolerate bullying, harassment, or bad language to fellow pupils or staff.
  • Students must always show the utmost respect towards teachers.
  • When wearing the LBDA uniform in public, students must behave appropriately.
  • We cannot help children who are not toilet trained.
  • Parents/guardians/carers must also behave respectfully towards LBDA staff and other families. LBDA reserves the right to withdraw service if behaviour is deemed unreasonable or abusive.
  • LBDA reserves the right to immediately terminate membership without refund if behaviour compromises the safety or wellbeing of staff, pupils or families.

 

9. Staff

  • It is the school’s practice to provide a safe and secure environment for all pupils.
  • Any teaching staff must be DBS checked and would have undergone an interview process.
  • Under certain circumstances a small degree of physical contact may be necessary to aid teaching.  Physical contact may also happen between students i.e. holding hands.
  • LBDA reserves the right to change the teaching staff at any time.
  • All teachers have undergone first aid training and Laura Bruce is lead safeguarding officer for LBDA.

 

10. Image Consent

  • Please do not post anything on social media which contains any child other than your own.
  • If you are asked to stop filming or taking photos please respect the rights of others.
  • Photographs and videos for our website, press, promotional material, class development and social media will be taken by your child’s teacher in class and possibly shared amongst our team as a teaching resource. Our annual show will be also be filmed by a third party.
  • By agreeing to these T & C’s you are giving consent for your child to be part of this and allow images to possibly be posted online.
  • Pupils are strictly forbidden to take photos and videos in class without the teacher’s consent. If consent is given these are only to be used as a learning resource and not be posted on social media or shared with others outside of the class.

 

11. Parking

  • The Car Park at St Peter’s Hall is not for parents use. Please park respectfully on the road and be mindful of residents driveways.
  • The car park at the Park Langley Tennis Club is shared with the club members. Please be mindful and respectful to the members there. Where possible park outside the club and walk in to collect your child.

 

12. Health

  • Please notify the Principal of any learning difficulties/medical issues.  Any medical conditions should be disclosed on the registration form.
  • Please inform the teacher if any medication is brought into class.  The teacher will require written consent to administer medication to any pupils under 16 years.
  • In the event of a serious incident, LBDA is authorised to seek emergency medical treatment if parents cannot be contacted.
  • Any injuries should be discussed with the child’s teacher.
  • Please follow the government Covid 19 protocols if a child tests positive for Covid or other pandemics.
  • Pupils should not attend class if they are unwell or contagious. Please keep your child home if they have:
    – Fever (within the last 24 hours)
    – Sickness/diarrhoea (within the last 48 hours)
    – Heavy cold symptoms or eye infections
    – Any communicable disease (measles, chicken pox, scarlet fever, whooping cough, impetigo, hand-foot-mouth, norovirus, Covid-19 etc.)
  • Refunds will not be given for absence due to illness.

 

13. Examinations & Performances

  • LBDA offers examinations in ISTD and LAMDA. Entry is at the discretion of the class teacher and the Principal. Parents/Carers will be informed when the required level is achieved.
  • Examinations and performances are not compulsory but are encouraged.
  • Examination fees must be paid by the deadline provided.
  • Performances are encouraged but optional. Pupils may be required to attend additional rehearsals.
  • Examination and performance fees are paid in advance and are non-refundable once paid.

 

LBDA reserves the right to alter the Terms and Conditions without prior notice. Your payment to LBDA is a contractual acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. All up to date information can be found on our website.  Terms and Conditions updated on 24th August 2025.
